The NACRA 17 was designed by Morrelli & Melvin in 2011. In May 2012, World Sailing selected the NACRA17 as the class for the mixed multihull event in Rio 2016. It was the first time a mixed discipline had been introduced into the Olympic sailing program.
After the Rio Olympics, the international class and Nacra Sailing decided to develop the boat to become a fully foiling catamaran. The NACRA 17 foiling is currently used as equipment for the mixed multihull class for the Olympic Games.
Nautivela is the official NACRA distributor for Italy.
