Designed by Clark Mills in 1947 specifically for propaedeutic purposes, the OPTIMIST is recognized worldwide as the best class for introducing children to the sport of sailing because of its great safety and maneuverability.
The spread of the Optimist class gives children around the world the opportunity to make their first sailing experiences, to participate in national and international events and to taste their first successes, in fact almost all the great Olympic champions have won their first medals in the Optimist class. Nautivela has been building Optimist since 1976 according to the original design.
